SCUBA2_REGISTER_IMAGES

Description

Register a series of SCUBA-2 images to a common reference position. The user may provide a reference position, or use the internal WCS SkyRef attribute for calibrators, or (0,0) for images in an offset coordinate system.

The recipe works by fitting a profile to the peak signal within a 2x2 arcmin^2 box centred on the reference position, calculates the offset of the peak from the given reference position and uses the KAPPA task wcsslide to shift the WCS. The shifts are printed to the screen. Images with no significant emission (defined as greater than 5 times the noise) are left untouched (even though they have the same suffix as those that were shifted).

Creates an output file for each input file with the suffix "_reg". These may then be coadded using MOSAIC_JCMT_IMAGES.

Notes

A reference position should always be given for non-calibrators.

The reference position should be that of a known source in each image, and that source must be present in all images.

The input images must have been produced by the pipeline or makemap and should not have their WCS trimmed such as with ndfcopy. (That restriction will change in future versions.)
